DevOps Engineer
Salt Lake City, UT
Long-term Contract: $60-$85 per hour

Our client is in search of a DevOps Engineer to join their team focused on bridging the gap between development, testing, and operations. This role plays a key part in designing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud-based infrastructure and automation workflows. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration skills, a deep understanding of DevOps principles, and the ability to drive efficiency, governance, and performance in complex environments.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with developers, system operators, and IT staff to manage cloud infrastructure and code releases.
Bridge gaps between development, testing, and operations teams to streamline workflows and improve delivery.
Use tools such as JIRA, GitHub, and AWS DevOps for project and workflow management.
Assist with application troubleshooting, migrations, conversions, and deployments.
Enforce governance policies and implement security guardrails according to defined standards.
Evaluate system logs and follow documentation standards for knowledge sharing and continuity.
Deploy and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
Create automated CI/CD pipelines for deployment across multiple environments.
Work closely with developers to understand workflows and infrastructure requirements.
Build and maintain consistent, reliable environments to support application performance.
Monitor applications and infrastructure to identify issues and make improvements.
Provide accurate billing insights and cost estimates for infrastructure needs.
Participate in strategic planning meetings, offering guidance on options, risks, and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, state, and agency policies and best practices.
Support disaster recovery planning, change management processes, and maintenance procedures.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in scripting for Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, BASH, CloudFormation, Python)
Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
Understanding of APIs, key management systems, networking, and firewalls
Familiarity with various cloud services and features
Associate-level cloud certification or ability to obtain one within one year of initial cloud access
Experience with development methodologies such as Agile and DevOps
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and lead by example with professionalism and adaptability
