Job Details
Step into the driver's seat of innovation as a Hardware/Service Technician supporting cutting-edge vehicle testing and development programs! In this hands-on role, you'll source and install parts, conduct both standardized and real-world vehicle tests, and deliver detailed data reports to engineering teams. You'll work closely with service garages, partner organizations, and internal stakeholders to ensure each test is executed safely, accurately, and consistently.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Source and procure new/used vehicle parts needed for testing.
- Secure and manage test vehicles from Customers and partner organizations.
- Conduct and document vehicle tests, including alignment, suspension diagnostics, emissions testing, and drivetrain performance evaluation.
- Work with service garages to install parts and ensure proper execution of standardized vehicle tests (e.g., brake testing, wheel alignment, suspension diagnostics).
- Interpret and document test results from measurement systems used in vehicle servicing (e.g., alignment machines, brake testers, emissions analyzers).
- Provide detailed test data files and reports to engineering teams, including outputs from vehicle diagnostic and measurement tools.
- Perform controlled vehicle testing under specified driving conditions to capture real-world performance data.
- Collaborate with service garage technicians and engineering teams to provide alternative testing methods when standard test procedures cannot be applied.
- Maintain detailed records of tests, faults, and repair conditions, ensuring clear documentation for technical development teams.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years' hands-on experience in automotive service, validation labs, or vehicle testing environments.
- Proficiency with alignment systems, brake dynamometers, emissions analyzers, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with suspension, braking, emissions, and drivetrain systems.
- Excellent data logging and technical writing skills; proficiency in Excel or test data software.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; willingness to perform on-road testing.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple vehicles/parts requests simultaneously.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or certificate in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with vehicle fleet management software or enterprise asset management systems.
- Basic welding or fabrication skills for custom test fixtures.
- OSHA or ASE certification in automotive diagnostics or testing.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in OP monthly team meetings, and participate in team-building efforts.
- Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
- Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
- Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
