The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) org is responsible for driving Microsoft cloud & AI capacity, margin excellence and resource allocation rigor across Microsoft's portfolio. Within MSIO, the Investment Optimization Strategy finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join an exciting and fast-evolving team that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across are continuously aligned to strategic engineering priorities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and solve difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and matrixed environment
  • Proven communication & presentation skills. Can easily present complex financial issues to non-finance executives
  • Proven interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills. Ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment.
  • Proven technical skills (excellent Excel skills required, Power BI and SQL skills preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing complex financial models, excellent quantitative analysis and forecasting skills


Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities

This role supports the Productivity engineering teams within Experiences + Devices (E+D) and works closely with the Engineering groups as well as the central E+D Investment Optimization & Enablement Finance teams.

  • President and Corporate Vice President Decision Support: Apply strategic and systems thinking into resource planning to maximize Return-on-Investment, including scenario and sensitivity analyses. Setting up analysis frameworks and processes that consider the impact of external factors, size of addressable markets, market landscape and existing commitments.
  • Business and Finance Partnership: Provide strategic leadership to top Engineering and Finance leaders to drive operating leverage through resource allocation and investment optimization by giving visibility to the current resource landscape, analyzing macro-level results, and applying systems thinking to identify and recommend levers. Gain a deeper understanding of product development roadmaps and how changes throughout the product development lifecycle impact financial accountability.
  • Business Health: Drive process excellence while partnering across Engineering and Finance to continuously assess the overall health of the business and understand key drivers to identify opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs. Ensure resources and investments are constantly aligned with business strategy, product engineering roadmaps, and company priorities.
