Summary:
**This position is intended for individuals with prior education/experience in the fields of electrical, mechanical, software, or nuclear engineering as well as advanced electronics
Conduct technical nuclear surety analyses, nuclear certification assessments. Conduct risk & vulnerability analyses required to support acquisition program development. Development activities include the Technical Maturation/Risk Reduction program execution, supporting Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) phase Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses and EMD execution. Analyze safety/security evaluations of design, operation, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, propulsion, transportation & handling, nuclear command & control, software, and communications subsystems. Provide technical support to AF ICBM Nuclear Certification Manager with AFI 63-125 Nuclear Certification Program activities. Present technical material to Nuclear Surety Working Group and other AF review boards
Provide direction on Nuclear Safety Design Certification compliance including:
o Weapon system specifications
o Weapon system architecture
o Compliance documents (DoDD, DoDIs, AFIs and AFMANs)
o Integration of data into Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) environment to produce required artifacts for Nuclear Certification IAW AFI 63-125

Skill Required:
Experience with DoD, AF Nuclear Surety policy & processes or equivalent NNSA nuclear safety policy & processes
Understanding of the DoD Systems Engineering lifecycle
Knowledge related to application of nuclear safety and nuclear security techniques
Experience with Air Force nuclear weapon systems, ICBM experience preferred
Knowledge and understanding of AFI 63-125, Nuclear Certification Program
Knowledge and understanding of 91 Series AFIs and AFMANs
Senior skill set includes ability to perform all stated/implied duties within this tier and those reasonably derived from preceding tiers

Education/Certifications - requirements based on position level
BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or related field + 10 years of experience
OR
MS degree + 7 years of experience
OR
PHD + 4 years of experience

Certification:
Relevant core and advanced certifications as established/required per local, national and international industry standards or as necessitated by performance expectations associated with level of appointment

Clearance -Secret - TS/SCI, SAP depending on the position
