Sustainability Business AnalystJob Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Sustainability Business Analyst for a contract position in Redmond, WA. The opportunity will be a year with a strong chance for a long-term extension.
Position Summary: The primary role involves maintaining vendor relationships, acting as a business analyst for non-IT projects, or filling organizational roles above an administrative level, but below a management level. Responsibilities may also include managing all project management processes, including project goals, deadlines, metrics, and budgets. Typically, this role reports to a project manager or director. Projects include regulatory reporting for environmental and social matters, process improvement for internal and partner teams, and preparing responses to customer ESG inquiries.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Establish and maintain communication services across business units or from the project team to the organization.
- Manage the storage and retrieval of all project communications data and business metrics.
- Review contracts, cost proposals, and contract supplements.
- Set up project and work breakdown structures.
- Establish and document business processes.
- Track project budgets and expenditures, monitor transaction controls, and costs against budgets.
- Predict potential budget overruns and offer solutions.
- Typical Task Breakdown and Operating Rhythm:
- Approximately 33% of the time is spent in meetings with stakeholders to align on processes and support needs.
- Approximately 33% of the time is dedicated to heads-down work on process improvement, SOP development, and internal reporting.
- Approximately 33% of the time is spent preparing reports for regulators and customers.
Qualifications:
- Years of Experience Required: 5-7 years in relevant roles.
- Degrees or Certifications Required: A degree in sustainability, environmental, scientific, or numerate disciplines is preferred but not critical.
- Best vs. Average: Top candidates will have experience with the Energy Efficiency Directive, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, and Carbon/Climate Risk Reporting. Familiarity with hyperscale or large, matrixed organizations is a plus. Project management skills and interest in agentic AI are valued extras.
- Performance Indicators: Success is measured by delivery on documented goals and objectives, progress on assigned tasks (tracked in Planner), and weekly reviews with the team.
- Familiarity with Sustainability/ESG Reporting - Minimum 5-7 years.
- Power BI - Experience required for analytics and reporting.
- Effective Communication in Large Organizations - Experience liaising with SMEs and senior leadership, ideally in complex, matrixed environments.
Preferred:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time effectively.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
- Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Word and Excel; Enterprise Application experience is a plus.
