About the Role
Client is seeking a skilled and motivated Application Developer to support the continuous development, enhancement, and integration of the Virginia Field Audit Compliance Tool (VFACT). VFACT is a custom-built application that supports audit activities and caseload management conducted by Tax Field Auditors.
This role is critical to the evolution of VFACT as the agency expands its audit system capabilities to include additional tax types and prepares for system integrations associated with the replacement of the current Integrated Revenue Management System (IRMS).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance core functionality of the VFACT application to support expanded auditing needs.
- Implement support for new tax types, including Corporate Income Tax and various miscellaneous taxes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate VFACT with the replacement of IRMS for existing taxes such as Sales and Withholding.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions within the VFACT system.
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure application reliability and performance.
- Participate in testing, documentation, and user training activities as needed.
- Report project status, risks, and issues to the VFACT Application Manager on a regular basis.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in application development with custom enterprise systems.
- Strong understanding of tax systems, audit workflows, or government compliance tools is a plus.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills for coordination with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with audit case management systems.

- Prior work with state or local government IT systems.
- Proficiency in relevant development languages and frameworks (please specify based on tech stack, if known).
