Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer III will provide advanced electrical and electronic engineering support for the design, development, and verification of medical diagnostic devices. This role is responsible for executing all aspects of electronic hardware design, including PCBA design, schematic capture, circuit simulation, troubleshooting, and verification testing. The engineer will ensure that all design activities comply with applicable regulatory, quality, and safety standards, and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in software, mechanical, quality, and manufacturing engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate electronic circuits, assemblies, and sub-systems used in medical devices.
- Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation using tools such as Altium Designer.
- Conduct analog and digital circuit design, including power management, control systems, and signal conditioning.
- Execute troubleshooting, debugging, and failure analysis of PCBAs and electrical subsystems.
- Support EMC/EMI, safety, and regulatory compliance testing (CE, UL, FCC, RoHS).
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, verification plans, reports, and change control records.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure robust design transfer and manufacturability.
- Interface with external vendors and contract manufacturers to support prototyping and production builds.
- Participate in verification and validation (V&V) activities and contribute to risk management and design reviews.
- Provide engineering support during prototype builds, product testing, and system integration phases.
- Ensure all design activities comply with GMP, FDA, ISO 13485, and internal quality system standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in electrical or electronic design, preferably in medical device or regulated environments.
- Proficiency in Altium Designer (schematic capture and PCB layout).
- Experience with analog/digital circuit design, power supply design, and circuit simulation tools (SPICE, LTspice, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with board bring-up, soldering, SMT rework, and debugging techniques.
- Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety testing (EMC, EMI, UL, CE, FCC).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred:
- Experience with HDL/Verilog, C/C++, Python, or LUA for embedded control and test automation.
- Background in control systems, sensors/transducers, displays, and motor control applications.
- Familiarity with multi-layer PCBAs, high-speed design, and component specification.
- Understanding of design control documentation under FDA/ISO 13485 quality systems.
