One of our clients in Washington D.C needs an Energy and Commissioning Engineer for a contract position.

Job description:

  • Candidates must be residing in or willing to relocate to Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia. Ideal candidates will bring a wealth of diverse experiences in providing energy and sustainability support to government clients, with responsibilities encompassing:
  • Identifying enhancements to complex Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Identifying and formulating comprehensive analyses for energy and water conservation measures (ECMs/WCMs).
  • Processing and analyzing large data sets including utility interval data, BAS data, and submetering and logger data to identify building operational characteristics and ECMs.
  • Overseeing energy and water efficiency projects from installation to commissioning, and through measurement and verification.
  • Conducting commissioning, retro-commissioning, or re-commissioning on various buildings including offices spaces and central utility plants.
  • Developing energy models using software programs such as Microsoft Excel, eQUEST, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP.
  • Performing ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits.
  • Experience with projects focused on improving facility electrical infrastructure.
  • Presenting and summarizing findings of data analysis and opportunity identification for clients.
  • Reviewing work and deliverables from energy service companies (ESCOs) during the development of performance contracts, including preliminary assessments, investment-grade audits, commissioning documents, and measurement and verification reports.
  • Leading the reporting of various reporting metrics required by federal agencies for the Energy Act of 2020, Energy Policy Act of 2005, Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings, and relevant Executive Orders (EO) is essential. Familiarity with the implementation of electric vehicle programs within government agencies is also a plus.
  • Leading the implementation of microgrid, renewable, and alternative energy projects, including conducting feasibility studies.
  • In addition to proven experience in the technical skillsets above, candidates should have demonstrated experience in successfully communicating with various stakeholders and have the interest and ability to work collectively on a team while also independently accomplishing and leading various tasks.

Requirements:

  • A BS or MS degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, energy management, building systems, civil) or a field related to energy/sustainability is required. Candidates must be a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or be eligible for certification upon hire. Certified Commissioning Professionals (CCP) or Certified Commissioning Agents (CxA) are highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, technical writing, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidates will have at least 5 to 7 years of ECM development and implementation, as well as commissioning experience.
  • Candidates must meet federal security clearance requirements and be eligible and willing to obtain a Top-Secret government clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Education:

  • A college degree and at least three years of proven sales experience is preferred.
  • Good communication skills are required.
