Job Details

Position Title: PCIe Hardware Systems Integration Engineer (Firmware, PCI-e gen 4 or later exp.)

Location: Onsite in Milpitas, CA may be some flexibility for hybrid but initially will need to be onsite all 5 days, especially during integration phases.

Length: 6 months -contract to hire Looking for someone to go perm.

The ideal candidate will come from a background in EE HW Design but will be focused on dprimarily system level integration work. They will be interfacing with the Design team in India and will need to have experience with all phases of HW Design to understand system-level bringup. Candidate will not be doing test or debug at the board or component level, (this will be done by the design team) but should have enough experience here to look at PCIe traces to provide guidance for next steps.

Needs to know the Standards/protocols, run the system to find the errors and determine if this is a HW design issue or system issue, etc. Experience with PCIE gen 5 is preferred/desired but anyone that has come up from prior generations 4 and up.

Viable candidates will most likely come from any company that does motherboard design specifically in Laptop and desktops or ASIC design/validation experience.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Debug and Analyze traces on compatibility issues, link training and equalizations.

Board and system level high speed digital circuit design, integration, and evaluation.

Develop system and board level tests and test procedures to ensure that the product meets electrical and engineering specifications. Use these procedures to transfer products to Operations.

Work with mechanical engineer to design product enclosure and cross check with electrical designs.

Design and implement unit characterization tests, production tests and integration tests. Execute, analyze, and verify test results.

Assist in PCI certification, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Support Manufacturing and Customer Support on various issues. Minimum of 5 years of system/board level design exp designing and developing high end, high speed embedded platforms including latest bus topologies, CPU, and memory interfaces.
  • Excellent knowledge of high speed (10Gbps or higher) design methodologies and simulation, including latest bus technologies such as PCIe, USB, SAS/SATA and/or Ethernet. (Need at least PCI-e gen 4)
  • Excellent knowledge in high-speed clock circuit design, implementation, and measurements.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong background in debug, high speed Timing, and Jitter analysis and measurement.
  • Working knowledge of various EMC/EMI control methods and implementation at PCB/component level.
  • Working experience with various schematic entry tools and test/measurement equipment including high-speed, real-time oscilloscopes, network/spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong system development experience with holistic approach.
  • Team player. Be able to share knowledge, learn from others, and support other groups within an organization.
