Position: COBOL Programmer
Duration: Long Term
Location: - Cranston, RI
Position Overview
- Administration ETSS/OIT division is seeking an experienced COBOL Programmer to provide support for legacy systems, application interfaces, and contribute to administrative support functions on IBM iSeries Power 9 (AS400) and IBM Mainframe systems (VSE, MVS, VM environments). This position will support COBOL programming requests, maintain critical business applications, and assist with modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate must have extensive hands-on experience in the following areas:
- COBOL Programming (Native and legacy)
- CICS (Customer Information Control System)
- SQL Programming (queries, updates, stored procedures)
- IBM iSeries (AS400) systems (System/36 & Native modes)
- IBM Mainframe environments (VSE, MVS, VM)
- Development and support of application interfaces
- Experience with DB2 databases and database maintenance
- Proficiency in supporting data transfer protocols (SFTP, FTP, ODBC, etc.)
- Strong understanding of legacy system architecture and modernization processes
- Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with legacy IVR systems and screen-scraping technologies
- Familiarity with tools such as FormDocs, XL Print Paris, X-Analysis
- Knowledge of Spell/400 and Surveyor/400
- Exposure to enterprise reporting tools like QLIK
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Compensation
Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, BeaconGov provides reasonable range of compensation for this role.
