Job Description

As a Cohesity Resident Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical expert and trusted advisor for enterprise-scale data protection platforms, working directly with federal and enterprise IT teams to ensure operational excellence and compliance. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical proficiency in Cohesity technologies, automation expertise using Python, and strong consulting skills to guide infrastructure strategy and optimize system performance.

Your day-to-day will involve designing and implementing backup and recovery solutions, developing automation workflows to enhance efficiency, troubleshooting complex data protection issues, and collaborating with client engineering teams to maintain best practices and security compliance. You'll work remotely while maintaining close relationships with on-site teams, occasionally traveling to designated client locations for project reviews and implementations.

This position exists to provide dedicated, expert-level support for mission-critical data protection infrastructure in a large-scale enterprise environment. You'll report to the project leadership team and collaborate closely with client IT operations, security teams, and infrastructure engineers. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical resource and trusted advisor for Cohesity Data Protection platforms
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise data protection, backup, and recovery solutions using Cohesity technologies
  • Develop and execute automation workflows using Python scripting to improve system efficiency and reliability
  • Integrate and provide hands-on support for HPE Morpheus hybrid cloud management and workload automation
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex data protection and automation issues
  • Collaborate with client engineering teams to drive best practices and optimize platform configurations
  • Ensure compliance with federal security policies and maintain operational performance standards
  • Deliver comprehensive technical documentation, status updates, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders
  • Participate in on-site visits and project reviews at designated client locations (Ogden, UT; Mechanicsburg, PA; Black Falls)
  • Maintain awareness of emerging data protection technologies and recommend platform enhancements

Required Experience/Skills

  • Active Secret Clearance required (Top Secret clearance preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise data protection, storage, or systems engineering
  • Proven hands-on expertise with Cohesity platforms (DataProtect, SmartFiles, or equivalent technologies)
  • Demonstrated experience with HPE Morpheus for hybrid cloud automation and orchestration
  • Strong Python scripting skills for task automation and workload optimization
  • Solid understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure including virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), networking, and storage systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail in compliance-driven environments
  • Client-service mindset with proven ability to build trusted advisor relationships
  • Adaptability to work independently in remote settings while maintaining team collaboration

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government IT environments
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based processes and enterprise change management frameworks
  • Industry certifications such as Cohesity Certified Engineer (CCE), HPE certifications, or related vendor credentials
  • Experience with additional data protection platforms (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik) for comparison and migration scenarios
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures
  • Background working in secure, compliance-heavy industries (government, healthcare, financial services)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Ansible, Terraform) complementing automation skillset

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field preferred
  • Equivalent professional experience and certifications will be considered in lieu of formal degree

Pay & Benefits Summary

  • Hourly Rate: $65-$75/hr (based on experience and clearance level)
