Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Remote (Alaska time zone)
Duration: 6+ months extendable contract with possibility to convert
PROJECT DETAILS
We are seeking a skilled Level 2 Network Engineer with a strong background in enterprise networking and data center environments, including a deep understanding of security practices and infrastructure implementation. This engineer will be primarily responsible for building transition documents to support a large-scale data center migration. The ideal candidate is process-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable maneuvering in complex environments with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive transition documentation using a pre-defined template.
- Analyze and correct virtual port channel (VPC) configurations to meet enterprise standards.
- Audit and revise physical data center connections to ensure reliability and prevent outages.
- Support the development and implementation of a revised IP strategy, including new subnets and VLAN structures.
- Provide periodic status updates, highlighting progress and any blockers.
- Be available during change windows as needed to support migration activities.
- Participate in the candidate evaluation phase (if converted to full-time or long-term role) by contributing to technical discussions and providing documentation support.
Qualifications:
- Strong security background in enterprise network environments.
- Hands-on experience with data center equipment, including:
- Cisco Nexus (VPC)
- Palo Alto firewalls
- Other Cisco routing and switching platforms
Professional certification: CCNP or higher required
Proven experience maneuvering and working within enterprise data centers
Familiarity with IP strategy planning, subnetting, and VLAN design
Excellent documentation skills and ability to follow structured templates
Efficient time management and ability to deliver within tight deadlines
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
