Job Description:
- We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to lead the assessment of our legacy Greenplum database and contribute to the creation of a comprehensive roadmap for migrating the Greenplum data to a Snowflake-based platform. In this role, you will play a crucial part in understanding business needs, gathering requirements, and collaborating with technical teams to ensure a smooth and successful migration process.
Responsibilities:
- Business Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their data usage, requirements, and pain points related to the Greenplum database.
- Translate business needs into detailed technical requirements for the migration process.
- Work with technical teams to conduct an assessment of the legacy Greenplum database, identifying data sources, schema designs, data relationships, and data quality issues.
- Document findings and communicate technical aspects to non-technical stakeholders.
- Assist in defining data transformation rules and logic required for a seamless migration.
- Collaborate with the project team to document the migration roadmap, including phases, timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
- Create detailed documentation of business requirements, technical specifications, and user stories.
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions to gather requirements and provide updates.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify potential risks and challenges associated with the migration process.
- Assist in developing strategies to mitigate risks and address obstacles.
- Maintain regular communication with business stakeholders to provide updates on the project's progress, challenges, and outcomes.
- Solicit feedback and incorporate it into the migration strategy as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role, preferably with involvement in data migration projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex business processes and data structures.
- Familiarity with database concepts, data modeling, and ETL processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical members.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and project management methodologies.
- Experience with Greenplum and Snowflake technologies is a plus.
- Previous experience in data-related projects or consulting roles is advantageous.
