Essential Duties

This position would work across both Development and Operations teams in Henrico County Information Technology to improve integrations, automations, and efficiency in various DevOps tools within our environment. Henrico has over 200 different systems and applications that keep the work of Henrico running daily. Internal to IT are several DevOps systems and processes that run, monitor, and maintain our infrastructure for those systems. This position would primarily work with internal IT systems to enhance our internal tooling to manage our environment. Having a role focused on these tasks would allow us to obtain even more value from the systems and software we currently own, as well as substantially increase efficiency throughout the entire department with automation.

This position will also work closely with the PMO and Data Systems Analyst on several projects. For example, the Analyst would define a project to improve data consistency across disparate systems, and this Integration Specialist would assist in implementing and standardizing solutions.

Example upcoming projects include major enhancements to our Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution, data architecture planning and ETL for upcoming projects including data warehousing, and software deployment standardization.

Due to the nature of upcoming projects, this position is targeted towards application or systems development candidate versus a system or network administrator - although they will report to a team of System Administrators. Programing knowledge will be a requirement. The role will focus on integrations, via Application Programing Interfaces (APIs) and other means. While there may be some development utilizing web technologies, this is not the focus area.

  • Experience with standards-based system integrations, either through native integrations provided by vendors or by API-based programmatic solutions

  • Experience with C#, Python, PowerShell, SQL, and Shell scripting
  • Experience with consuming and developing REST APIs
  • Experience with managing and developing automations, including using tools like Ansible
  • Ability to develop and maintain clean and secure code
  • Ability to manage and work on various larger projects with clear communication to all stakeholders involved. These projects may be individual or as part of a group
  • Knowledge of IAM, Security, Firewall, and Github are a plus
  • Knowledge of common data management practices, including data warehousing or management, as well as ETL processes and tools
