PURPOSE:

The Solutions Design Analyst Sr is responsible for gathering and analyzing data to develop recommended solutions for the organization in the pursuit of "new business", assessing network capacity and creating/developing solutions to optimize operations. In this role, the individual is expected to take an analytical approach by incorporating all the complex needs (e.g.: large data sets, warehouse/ transportation data, regional/ national strategic needs) to evaluate and develop viable solutions to present to stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Solutions Design, together, the individual will also leverage technologies to develop new and innovative solutions to ensure supply chain solutions exceeds both UNFI and external customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job Responsibilities Percentage Provide data analysis and/or recommendations to Operations and Sales teams by assessing warehouse capacity, network capacity and recommending space needs to support various activities such, as but not limited to; pursuing new sales opportunities, optimizing network capacity, and new growth opportunities to meet customer demands. 25% Provide analytical support to the Solutions team in developing solutions by analyzing large and complex data sets (e.g., analyzing historical annual order and line level data where data is 1M lines). 15% Design, develop and optimize warehouse layouts, racking and elevations (primarily work in AutoCAD). 15% Provide data analysis and build operational profiles on re-engineering and continuous improvement projects. Examples include and not limited to: evaluate alternative scenarios and solutions, develop innovative solutions and develop return on investments. 15% Develop internal tools to support operations and/or Solutions team to help ensure consistent design principles are followed. 10% Provide warehouse and data analysis on implementing projects (e.g.: KPIs, operational expectation, adherence to design and process, IT testing, managing vendors, operational capacity, volumes, etc.). 10% Create, design and recommend optimal warehouse flows and layouts. 10% Total 100%

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in related field

Experience:

3+ years of relevant work experience in Logistics and/or Supply Chain

Experience in warehouse operations, supply chain, Third Party Logistics, transportation or a related field, facility design (greenfield design) and transportation modeling preferred

Previous experience and / or training with LEAN - Six Sigma programs, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, and related software applications required

Strong competency with analytical tools (Access, Alteryx, SQL)

Intermediate AutoCAD experience

Strong project management skills. Must be able to build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision making without authority through a partnering approach.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong problem-solving skills: ability to analyze, attention to details and draw conclusions from large and complex operational data

Independent, well organized, ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deliver quality while meeting deadlines

Ability to communicate, collaborate and influence others across multiple cross-functional teams with varied background and experiences

Ability to lead and motivate others

Ability to work under pressure and time constraints as well as handle several tasks simultaneously

Ability to manage confidential information

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

Travel to US and Canada DCs required

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment

Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal

Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
