Job Details

Network Infrastructure Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Cool Springs/Franklin, TN (Hybrid: ~3 days onsite during contract)
Type: 6-month CTH • Full-time • Target start: Nov 3 (shadow for ~2 weeks)
Travel: Occasional same-day drives to nearby facilities (no overnights)

Why This Role

Join a stable, low-turnover IT org led by a VP who’s grown internally over 26 years. You’ll be his right hand—backing up network operations across ~46 sites and getting hands-on with Fortinet gear and a Mitel VOIP environment. Supportive leadership, practical scope, and real growth runway.

What You’ll Do

  • Networking (?60%)

    • Support Fortinet firewalls/switches across a multi-site WAN/LAN (SD-WAN, VPNs, VLAN triage).

    • Use centralized management (e.g., FortiManager GUI) to push updates, profiles, and configs.

    • Stand up smaller/full sites as needed; monitor circuits and network health (Auvik/ControlUp or similar).

  • VOIP (?40%)

    • Handle phone hardware swaps and basic config (call trees, reroutes) in a Mitel environment.

  • General

    • Partner with an outsourced L1 help desk and a small local infra team (incl. VMware specialist).

    • Work remotely with end users via phone; escalate to vendors/partners when needed.

    • Keep system info current; patch/upgrade as required.

Must-Haves

  • 1+ year troubleshooting end users over the phone (not just deskside).

  • 1+ year with switches/routers/firewalls; exposure to Fortinet strongly preferred.

  • Comfort with VPN tunnels, SD-WAN, VLAN basics and following runbooks/scripts.

  • Some VOIP exposure (or clear willingness/aptitude to learn).

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft/AD/Win10; remote tools; basic network mapping.

  • Clear, concise communication; self-starter who knows when to loop in leadership.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Fortinet stack experience (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiManager).

  • Experience with monitoring platforms (Auvik, ControlUp) and ticketing workflows.

  • Certifications (Fortinet/CCNA) are a plus, not a must.

Workstyle & Schedule

  • VP is onsite 5 days/week; expect ~3 days onsite during the contract for ramp and shadowing.

  • Busy periods on install/turn-up days; otherwise normal full-time hours.

Interview Process

  1. Phone/Teams with VP of IT Security & Networking

  2. Onsite for team/fit (meet the VP and the IT leader)
