Senior Nutanix Migration Engineer- remote with occasional travel

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Nutanix Migration Engineer to join our dynamic professional services or operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing complex data center migrations to the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud platform, ensuring seamless transitions, minimal downtime, and optimal performance. This role requires deep expertise in Nutanix technologies, strong project management acumen, and a proven track record in successful data center transformations.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and execute end-to-end migration projects from various legacy infrastructures (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, physical servers, other hypervisors) to Nutanix AHV and ESXi-on-Nutanix environments.
Conduct thorough discovery and assessment of existing client environments, identifying dependencies, risks, and developing detailed migration strategies and runbooks.
Design and implement robust Nutanix solutions, including cluster sizing, network integration, storage configurations (Volumes, Files, Objects), and disaster recovery planning (Nutanix Leap, DR services).
Utilize and optimize Nutanix migration tools and methodologies (e.g., Nutanix Move, Xtract, Karbon for Kubernetes, Nutanix Frame, database migration tools).
Perform pre-migration health checks, monitor migration progress, and conduct post-migration validation to ensure data integrity and application functionality.
Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, solution architects, and other technical teams to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution during all phases of migration, including performance tuning and optimization.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including migration plans, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Nutanix technologies, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to internal knowledge sharing.
Stay abreast of the latest Nutanix product releases, features, and best practices.
Participate in client meetings, workshops, and pre-sales activities as required.

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on virtualization and hyperconverged systems.
3+ years of dedicated experience leading and executing data center migrations to Nutanix.
Deep expertise in Nutanix AOS, AHV, Prism Central, and associated services (e.g., Files, Objects, Volumes, Flow Network Security).
Proven experience with data migration tools such as Nutanix Move and/or other relevant migration methodologies.
Solid understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancing) in a virtualized and hyperconverged environment.
Strong experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) certification is highly preferred; Nutanix Certified Master (NCM) is a significant plus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience with other virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and their migration paths.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid cloud architectures.
Scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
Experience with database migrations (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) onto Nutanix.
Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization on Nutanix (Karbon).
