Job Title: Embedded Firmware Engineer

Job Location: Centennial, CO 80122

Job Duration: 6 months of contract with an extension

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Embedded Firmware Engineer to support the testing, validation, and integration of hardware and embedded systems. This role requires strong C/C++ firmware development skills, deep lab-based debugging experience, and the ability to collaborate closely with hardware, test, and software teams to deliver reliable, high-quality embedded solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform lab-based testing, characterization, and validation of embedded hardware and systems.
  • Develop, debug, and maintain C/C++ firmware for embedded platforms.
  • Support hardware bring-up and troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues.
  • Set up, operate, and interpret results from lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and function generators.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for system-level issues and implement effective fixes.
  • Configure, test, and validate firmware changes across development and production environments.
  • Document test procedures, results, defects, and debugging activities clearly and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, test engineers, and software developers to resolve issues and improve system performance.
  • Develop or support automated test tools or scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Provide data-driven insights during design reviews to support design decisions and product improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems or firmware development.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded platforms.
  • Hands-on experience working in a lab environment with electronic test equipment.
  • Solid understanding of embedded hardware architectures, microcontrollers, and peripherals.
  • Proven experience debugging hardware/software integration issues.
  • Familiarity with embedded communication protocols and interfaces.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing automated test scripts or tools.
  • Exposure to scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
  • Experience with embedded operating systems or RTOS.
  • Prior experience supporting design validation or product qualification testing.

  • This is a hands-on technical role requiring regular interaction with physical hardware.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working independently while also contributing to team goals.
  • Reports to an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead.
