Job Title: Telecommunications Specialist
Intermediate Level | On-Site | Travel Required
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to perform professional-level duties in providing new telephone services, modifying existing services, and relocating systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, vendor coordination, and the ability to evaluate and improve telecommunications infrastructure for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to perform professional-level duties in providing new telephone services, modifying existing services, and relocating systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, vendor coordination, and the ability to evaluate and improve telecommunications infrastructure for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess organizational telephone requirements, including number of stations, traffic projections, and feature needs (e.g., call forwarding, paging, intercom).
- Evaluate efficiency and cost-effectiveness of current telephone systems.
- Act as liaison between the organization and vendors to determine requirements and ensure service delivery.
- Assist with preparing proposals, evaluating bids, and making recommendations.
- Negotiate with vendors regarding products and services.
- Coordinate vendor and internal work to ensure projects are completed on schedule and according to specifications.
- Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders to ensure services meet operational needs and deficiencies are corrected.
- Provide expert analysis for configuration, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
- Train technicians and staff on system use and best practices.
- Attend industry seminars and training sessions to stay current with telecommunications developments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
- Associate degree with related experience may substitute for bachelor's degree (1:1).
- High school diploma with 5 years of related experience may also qualify.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Primarily office-based work environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Travel required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Telecommunications systems (analog and digital).
- Wireless and phone system support.
- Equipment engineering and configuration.
- Project management and vendor coordination.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting both legacy and modern phone systems.
- Ability to evaluate requirements and recommend improvements.
- Hands-on experience with configuration, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
