We have been retained by our client with teams working onsite, in Northwest Houston, to deliver a senior-level Project Manager with cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud (Azure, AWS), SDLC, big data and project management skills, on a contract basis.



TECHNICAL SKILLS



Must Have

Our client in northwest Houston, with teams working onsite, M-F, is launching a cloud transformation initiative focused on delivering quick wins and foundational capabilities. Early efforts target data and analytics, productivity tools, and security governance, with cross-functional coordination across Big Data, Infrastructure & Operations, Security & Compliance, Applications, Client Services, and Business Solutions.



The Project Manager will support the Security & Compliance department with implementing and securing cloud environments, overseeing security architecture, managing project plans and resources, and ensuring compliance with security standards and frameworks. This position will work with technical teams and stakeholders focusing on areas such as identity management, network security, and data protection.



Required Skills and Experience:

- 5+ years of project management experience in the IT security & compliance field

- 5+ additional years of IT professional experience

- Strong domain knowledge of cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS)

- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including network security, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), data protection, cloud architecture, risk management, threat modeling, and defense-in-depth.

- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) within cloud platforms

- Strong understanding of security risk frameworks and industry security standards relevant to cloud computing

- Ability to ensure security projects adhere to security policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations

- Project management and information security certifications (PMI PMP, CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, etc.) are preferred

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills



Job Description:

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, reporting, and overseeing the delivery of software and technology projects while following the established IT project management methodology. The Project Manager will support these job functions:



Project Planning & Execution




  • Lead technical projects from initiation through implementation, including RFP development, vendor selection, proof of concept, requirements gathering, design, development/configuration, testing, integration, data conversion, user acceptance, go-live, and project close.

  • Manage projects across diverse technology domains such as enterprise applications, infrastructure upgrades, data platforms, digital transformation initiatives, and IT support operations.

  • Coordinate and oversee the utilization of shared resources across multiple projects, ensuring effective allocation and prioritization requirements are met

    Develop and maintain detailed project plans, secure and organize resources, coordinate project activities, monitor budgets, assess dependencies, and manage project issues.

  • Monitor project progress and adjust resources and priorities accordingly.

  • Assess project dependencies, risks, budget constraints, and resource conflicts to ensure successful implementation, including contingency planning.

  • Support continuous improvement of project management methodologies and tools.



IT Leadership & Technical Alignment with the Business




  • Ensure all team members are aligned on the business requirements, design documents, and any other technical requirements. This can include current and future process documentation.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of both business and technical issues to manage resources and deliverables effectively.

  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams to ensure solutions meet operational and strategic needs.



Team Leadership & Collaboration




  • Build and lead high-performing teams by leveraging individual strengths, technology, and organizational processes.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders across IT, operations, vendors, and compliance to ensure seamless execution.

  • Foster strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, exercising flexibility, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment across departments and leadership levels.



Analysis & Communication




  • Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to leadership.

  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and proactive identification of improvement opportunities.

  • Analyze and report project status, synthesizing complex information for decision-making.

  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with staff, management, and executives.



Adaptability & Decision-Making




  • Manage shifting priorities in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

  • Make well-informed decisions under pressure, balancing strategic goals with operational realities.



The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:




  • 5+ years of project management experience in the IT security & compliance field.

  • 5+ additional years of IT professional experience.

  • Experience managing multiple, complex projects.

  • Project management and information security certifications (PMP, CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, etc.) are preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in building and leading project teams using both internal and external resources.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influencing, organizational, and facilitation skills.

  • Proficient in both Waterfall, or Evolutionary or Agile development methodologies.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps (TFS) (or Jira), Microsoft Office Suite, and Visio.



Top Daily Priorities:




  • Coordinating multiple IT groups (with shared resources) and vendors to ensure decisions are being reached and issues resolved.

  • Creating and managing the schedule, project lists (action items, issues, key decisions, etc.),

  • Complete first level budget review



Interview Process:




  • Tell me about your experience in leading project(s) that migrate on-premise data-oriented workloads to a net new cloud data fabric environment.

  • 30 minute phone screen. If invited, a 1 hour on-site, panel of PMO, IT management and possibly business manager.

  • 100% in the office in northwest Houston. 40 hour work weeks. M-F, flexible hours.




Employment Type: Contract, one year or longer



Salary Range: $110 124 / PER HOUR w-2
