Primary Responsibilities

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a dynamic Junior Software Engineer to support cloud modernization initiatives for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) in the Alexandria, VA area. This role is part of a high-impact program focused on delivering secure, scalable cloud solutions that enable operational agility and resilience across the USCG enterprise.

As a Junior Patching Support Engineer, you'll help maintain system integrity and compliance by executing patching operations across cloud environments. This role includes responsibility for cloud patching operations across our customers AWS/Azure infrastructure, ensuring secure, compliant, and high-performing virtual desktop and cloud systems. You'll work closely with cloud engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and program leadership to drive continuous improvement and deliver value to the mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute patching strategies for AWS and Azure cloud services.
  • Automate patch deployment using AWS, Azure, and other third-party tools.

  • Respond to patch-related incidents and rollback procedures when necessary.

Other

  • Promote continuous improvement through feedback loops and process refinement
  • Ensure alignment with USCG mission priorities and Leidos delivery standards

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business)

  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with technical teams in cloud, cybersecurity, or enterprise IT environments

At Leidos, we don't want someone who "fits the mold"-we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, "what's next?" before the dust settles on "what's now."

If you're already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2... good. You'll fit right in.
