Job Title: Staff Accountant

Client: Energy Solutions to Residential and Commercial Client

Location: Chesapeake, VA- (Hybrid: 1 remote day/week)

Duration: Contract to hire/Full time role

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week

About the role:

Oil/energy company seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into numbers, ensuring accuracy, and supporting a smooth month-end close process.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.

·         Prepare and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.

·         Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis.

·         Maintain organized and well-documented workpapers supporting all reconciliations.

·         Identify discrepancies and work cross-functionally to resolve issues promptly.

·         Support annual audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation as needed.

·         Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

·         1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.

·         Proficiency with accounting software, QuickBooks Online, and Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).

·         Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

·         Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple prioritie.
