Statement of Work:
This procurement is for One (1) 3MS Database Administrator to support the operations and maintenance of the Maximo software platform in a cloud environment, the related integrations, and other components. The Maximo Database Administrator (DBA) at WMATA is currently responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of Maximo databases and integration with systems such as PeopleSoft/ERP, Fleetwatch, Optram, PPG, and Microsoft Power Platform. The role includes ensuring database performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring, tuning,
backups, disaster recovery planning, and managing user and external process access. The DBA supports upgrades, patch management, data archiving, and migrations while complying with WMATA s cybersecurity and regulatory standards and ensuring the applications and Databases are free of vulnerabilities. Additionally, the DBA collaborates with cross-functional teams to manage Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) workflows, provide actionable insights, and deliver database-related support for audits, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts to align Maximo operations with WMATA s business needs.
Task Description:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform data mapping and data conversion for several Maximo Functional Enhancements, Bus
Stop and GIS Integration, and PPG and Maximo integration;
- Design and implement database HA and real time fail over for the Maximo database and
application servers;
- Implement Maximo data archiving;
- Configure EXADATA to support Maximo HA project; support rail and bus-related integrations
such as FleetWatch, OrbCad, and RPM System administration (AIX, scripting, SAN
administration), and database administration and support on Oracle 12c and 18c;
- Provide both functional and technical Maximo support and process improvement;
- Develop and maintain Maximo integrations including, but not limited to mileage processing, RPM,
and PeopleSoft; and
- Develop advanced Maximo migration scripts during upgrades to minimize downtime.
Required skills/Level of Experience :
- Bachelor s degree in Management of Information Science (MIS), Computer Science,
Mathematics, Finance, Business, Accounting, Public Administration, or in a related discipline;
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible diversified technical experience with complex
information systems and data processing management in a large organization;
- IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Maximo Asset Management,
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) 12c or higher;
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Maximo 7.6, Transportation, Asset Configuration
Manager, and Everyplace;
- Expert knowledge and experience in Maximo table structure and meta data;
- Experience developing migration scripts for Maximo upgrades;
- Experience with automating Maximo administrative tasks such as error handling;
- Expertise in Maximo, WebSphere, and Oracle architectures;
- Expert knowledge of Oracle Development and administration;
- Experience with Oracle 18C new features;
- Experience with Oracle advanced techniques and products including, but not limited to: Data
Guard, Active Data Guard, RAC, Golden Gate, and application continuity;
- Experience with Database HA concepts leveraging Oracle EXADATA;
- Experience with PPG data structure and database;
- Experience with enterprise systems related to transit such as: GOTRS, RPM, PeopleSoft,
SCADA, Optram, InspectTech, and FleetWatch;
- Experience with TRM Rules Manager;
- Advanced level AIX usage and administration; and
- Experience with PL/SQL.
