Job Details

This is 100% onsite work position based in Tallahassee, FL. Apply only if you are willing to relocate.

Education: Bachelor s degree or master s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Information Systems, or other related field is required. Equivalent work experience may substitute for the educational requirement.

Certifications:

  • Certification in the field;

Required Experience:

  1. Demonstrated effective writing and documentation skills.
  2. Skill in SQL Server database administration
  3. Skill in working in Windows operating systems
  4. Skill as a SQL developer
  5. Skill in creating stored procedures, views, and functions
  6. Skill in supporting SQL Server data replication, high availability, and validation
  7. Skill with SQL Server software installation, patching, and upgrading.
  8. Ability to work independently and to resolve complex issues
  9. Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to server and data infrastructure
  10. Ability to write T- SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, and Database Triggers
  11. Ability to Tune SQL and T-SQL queries for performance, index maintenance and implementation, and proactively identify performance bottlenecks while providing sound solutions
  12. Operational support skills, including experience with system installations, troubleshooting, migrations and upgrades
  13. Knowledge of Windows and PowerShell scripting
  14. Skill in logical and physical database design and data models
  15. Knowledge of the software development lifecycle process
  16. Practical experience in monitoring and tuning databases to provide a high availability service
  17. Ability to maintain currency on tools, methodologies, and technologies related to data administration
  18. Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives
  19. Strong database security administration skills
  20. Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner
  21. Ability to effectively communicate technical data processing information verbally and in writing
  22. Knowledge of SQL Server backup/recovery technologies and processes
  23. Knowledge of SQL Server Replication practices and processes
  24. Knowledge of SQL Server Clusters and Failover (AG clusters and regular Failover clusters) methodologies
  25. System/Application/Database development, design and/or administration
  26. Developing in T-SQL or PL/SQL languages
  27. Assisting application/web development teams and business area customers in the design, deployment, and development of solutions

Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Provide support, on-going maintenance, and required modifications to database applications already in production.
  2. Work with agency customers to develop and implement a process to receive data and disperse it to the appropriate internal applications, adhering to all State of Florida security guidelines.
  3. Assist in designing the Database Architecture and Strategic plan for agency customers.
  4. Provide research and analytical services for new projects as they emerge.
  5. Develop protocol for implementing existing and newly developed Database applications within the existing environment.
  6. Implement changes to existing and newly-developed Database applications when authorized and in accordance with Agency Change Management/Service Request procedures.
  7. Create technical documentation associated with projects upon request.
  8. Conduct Pilot projects and research new technologies to support current or new processes as needed.
  9. Create complete and accurate project documentation.
  10. Develop timelines as requested.
  11. Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems and/or processes as requested.
  12. Evaluate system tools and determine their usefulness to the Agency and its customer s environment.
  13. Maintain accurate and detailed accounting of hours worked and tasks completed for each project.
  14. Mentor junior and journeymen Database Administrators.
  15. Work within the constraints of the Agency policies on security, privacy, and procedures.
  16. Support and comply with all Agency policies and procedures.

17. Document work activities through Agency Change Management, Service Desk and Cost allocation procedures
