Product Mechanical Designer (High Hourly Rate)

A globally leading technology company is looking for a Product Design Engineer to provide design support with their hardware product. In this role, you ll use 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent, perform tolerance and stress analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for performance, aesthetics, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate has at least two years of mechanical design experience, strong engineering fundamentals, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Job Responsibilities:
Using 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent, inspection requirements, and test methods
Developing deep technical knowledge in areas outside your realm of expertise to understand other teams design constraints and craft creative solutions to technical problems
Collaborating with outside vendors and internal manufacturing experts to optimize designs for function, aesthetic, and manufacturability
Some of the skills we exercise and develop regularly: tolerance and stress analysis, electro-mechanical integration, design for high volume manufacturability and assembly, prototyping, failure analysis, simple fixture design, metrology, statistical process control

Key Qualifications:
5+ yrs of Mechanical Design industry experience
High degree of motivation, curiosity, passion and creativity
Design intelligence: mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, spatial reasoning, attention to detail
Engineering fundamentals: statics, strength of materials, material science, statistics
Excellent communication skills: written, visual, and verbal. Ability to clearly convey design ideas and contribute to brainstorms
3D CAD experience with any program. 2D drafting and GD&T a plus
Experience in the design cycle from concept through manufacturing a plus
Experience designing mechanical components for mass production a plus - specifically molded, formed, and machined parts.

Education:
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Duration: 6 months with an extension possible

Pay Range: $ 80.00 - $ 125.00 W2 (Depends on Experience)
