Position Title: Sr. Communications Consultant
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Communications Consultant to develop compelling executive-level communications that highlight strategic initiatives across a higher education system. This role supports a dynamic portfolio of work with an emphasis on technology transformation, student access, and systemwide collaboration.
The consultant will work closely with leadership and internal teams to shape narratives, create key messaging, and deliver content for internal stakeholders. This is a high-visibility position for a skilled communicator who can translate complex programs into stories that resonate.
Key Focus Areas
- Executive Communication
Draft clear, persuasive executive summaries, talking points, and reports that support systemwide initiatives. - Strategic Storytelling
Develop narratives that highlight major accomplishments such as the redesign of key applications, fraud prevention measures, and technology innovation efforts. - Internal Engagement
Produce content that informs and aligns internal stakeholders, including leadership at colleges and system offices. - Content Development
Create and maintain decks, briefs, articles, and supporting collateral to communicate project updates and impact. - Collaboration
Engage cross-functional teams (technology, operations, policy) to understand project goals and distill key takeaways into accessible content. - Portfolio Familiarity
Rapidly understand the organization s full portfolio to proactively identify content needs and opportunities.
Required Experience
- 5+ years developing content strategies and communications in a higher education, government, or mission-driven setting
- Proven ability to synthesize complex or technical topics into concise, engaging written materials
- Experience writing for executive audiences and internal stakeholders
- Strong editorial skills with attention to tone, clarity, and alignment with organizational goals
- Familiarity with challenges and innovations in higher education, especially digital platforms and student services
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a higher education system office or community college setting
- Understanding of digital transformation projects, including student application platforms and enrollment processes
- Awareness of issues related to systemwide integrity and technology modernization (e.g., fraudulent applications, digital equity)

- Type: Contract
- Location: Remote (PST preferred)
- Time Commitment: Full-time (up to 40 hrs/week)
