Job Details

A leading consulting agency is seeking an experienced AWS Platform Engineer to support multiple new client-facing initiatives for a well-established enterprise in Chicago, IL. This is a full-time, hybrid role (some onsite work required), where you'll work on cutting-edge, AWS-based infrastructure powering mission-critical applications. You'll be embedded in a platform engineering team responsible for scaling infrastructure, enabling development teams, and shaping DevOps best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of cloud/platform/DevOps engineering experience
Hands-on with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, VPC, etc.)
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
CI/CD pipeline development and automation (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (especially EKS)
Strong scripting in Python, Go, or Bash
Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity best practices
Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK, etc.)

Desired Skills & Experience
AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.)
Experience in consulting or professional services
GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Flux)
Experience in multi-account AWS orgs or Landing Zone patterns
Exposure to compliance frameworks (SOC2, HIPAA, etc.)
Cost optimization and tagging strategy experience

40% Building and managing cloud platform infrastructure

20% Troubleshooting issues across environments
