Job Details

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Architect to serve as the technical lead for designing the integrated architecture of Utility Organization s NextGen Distribution Control Rooms. This role will define and oversee the end-to-end systems design, integration strategy, and technology roadmap spanning Advance Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), AI-enabled analytics, and enterprise applications. The architect will ensure the solution is secure, scalable, standards-compliant, and aligned with industry best practices to enable a future-ready, distributed energy-rich grid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical architecture design for the NextGen control room, integrating SCADA, OMS, ADMS, DERMS, and supporting IT/OT systems.
  • Develop integration frameworks to ensure interoperability between operational technology (OT) and enterprise IT platforms (GIS, CIS, ERP, workforce management, etc.).
  • Assess current-state systems and define upgrade/migration paths for legacy applications.
  • Create standards, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps to support phased deployment of new systems.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, resiliency, and regulatory requirements in all system designs.
  • Define data architecture and ensure consistent information flow across real-time operations, analytics, and customer-facing systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to utility SMEs, consultants, and vendor teams during workshops and design sessions.
  • Evaluate the role of AI, predictive analytics, and digital twins in enhancing grid operations and situational awareness.
  • Support the development of deliverables including the Current-State Assessment, Future-State Blueprint, and Implementation Roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 12+ years in systems architecture or solution design within the electric utility or critical infrastructure sector.
  • Hands-on expertise in ADMS, OMS, SCADA, DERMS, and their integration with enterprise applications.
  • Deep knowledge of IT/OT convergence, cybersecurity frameworks (NERC CIP, ISO standards), and cloud/on-prem hybrid architectures.
  • Proven experience with system integration technologies (ESB, APIs, middleware, data platforms).
  • Understanding of real-time data systems, distributed energy integration, and advanced grid automation technologies.
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) and utility-specific standards (CIM, IEC 61850, IEEE standards).
  • Consulting or project delivery experience with utilities or grid operators strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master s preferred).
