Interior Components Engineer | Contract| Newark, CA

Join a luxury electric vehicle manufacturer as part of a world-class Interior Components and Systems Engineering team. In this role, you ll help design and deliver innovative interior systems that define next-generation vehicle comfort, craftsmanship, and functionality.

About the Role

You ll collaborate across design, engineering, and supplier teams to create industry-leading interior components from instrument panels and door trims to consoles and headliners. This is a dynamic position that blends creative design with hands-on technical execution to bring advanced interiors to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, packaging, engineering, and launch of interior components and systems

  • Create high-quality interior solutions that balance luxury, performance, safety, and ergonomics

  • Develop technical product specifications and manage timelines to meet program milestones

  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure technical excellence and on-time delivery

  • Use CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6) to create 2D/3D concepts, layouts, and DFM studies

  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, design, and vehicle engineering teams to deliver cohesive designs

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience in automotive interior components and systems development

  • Expertise in hard trim, soft trim, IPs, door trims, consoles, or headliners

  • Strong understanding of interior trends, materials, and manufacturing processes

  • Experience taking projects from concept to production launch

  • Proficiency in CAD modeling (CATIA V5/V6 preferred)

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • One full program cycle experience in interior systems development

  • Knowledge of plastic part design, GD&T, injection molding, DFM, ergonomics, and craftsmanship

  • Hands-on, problem-solving approach with a passion for design and precision

  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration experience
