Position: C Programmer with Cobolt and TX Series Experience
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months Firstly, please disregard any mention of COBOL in the request. We have connected with the IBM team and confirmed that this opportunity requires C programming skills, not COBOLRole
As a TXSeries CICS Application Developer, you will be responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and modernizing critical business applications developed in C and running on IBM TXSeries with CICS. You will work closely with infrastructure and cloud teams to transition these workloads to hybrid or cloud-native platforms, including Red Hat OpenShift or HCI environments. Key Responsibilities
"Analyze, maintain, and enhance applications developed in C using EXEC CICS commands.
Understand and work with TXSeries CICS region configuration and transaction flows.
Recompile CICS-based C applications for modern Linux environments.
Design and implement solutions to containerize or replatform legacy transactional workloads.
Migrate CICS application logic to modern microservices or API-based architecture where appropriate.
Collaborate with architects, DBAs, and MQ teams to ensure end-to-end transaction flow.
Implement logging, observability, and CI/CD practices for C-based transaction apps." Skills
"Strong hands-on experience in C programming.
Expertise with TXSeries / CICS on AIX/Linux/Windows.
Familiarity with CICS commands (EXEC CICS SEND, LINK, RETURN, etc.).
Knowledge of DB2, Oracle, or VSAM integration.
Experience with IBM MQ or similar messaging systems.
Understanding of transactional systems, syncpoints, and error handling in CICS.
Strong COBOL expereince"
