Principal Software Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in need of a Principal Software Engineer in Johnston, RI.

Responsibilities:
* Architect and implement scalable, high-performance business applications using C#, .NET, and React
* Apply object-oriented principles, design patterns, and modern software engineering practices to deliver robust solutions
* Design and maintain cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
* Optimize deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows using modern DevOps tools and practices
* Lead development of responsive and dynamic user interfaces using React
* Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure seamless user experiences
* Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange
* Integrate with third-party services and platforms, including Hasura and other service-oriented architectures
* Design relational database schemas and write optimized queries for SQL Server and PostgreSQL
* Ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability across database systems
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams
* Review code, enforce best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
* Implement modern security models and ensure application compliance with industry standards
* Collaborate with security teams to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities
* Work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals
* Communicate effectively across teams to drive project success
* Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
* Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve system performance and developer productivity

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of software engineering and design experience with large scale business applications in a fast-paced iterative development environment
* 2+ years of experience in public cloud (Azure)
* 2+ years of experience in React
* Experience with C#, .NET, React, data structures, basic algorithms, and applying object-oriented principles and design patterns
* Strong API design and development skills
* Proficiency with development tools such as Visual Studio and Git
* Proficiency with relational databases craft and query construction and optimization (we use SQL Server and PostgreSQL; Other RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) experience is acceptable
* Strong understanding of architectural principles of software development, modelling, and security
* Strong understanding of the deployment pipeline tools
* Sound understanding of GraphQL, modern security models and integration with Services (like Hasura), database skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
