Our work depends on a highly motivated System Engineer to support an Agile software development team in building, maintaining, and supporting enterprise, cloud, web applications. Responsibilities will include tasks to support project management, software development, and system integration.

HOW BEING A SYSTEMS ENGINEERWILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Serve as the Technical Liaison between the Customers and the Development Team.
  • Support for System Requirements, including meetings with business stakeholders, Business Process Analysis, and requirement translation (e.g. mockups for GUI changes).
  • Creation of requirements in Confluence and user stories in Jira.
  • Decomposition of a process or large requirement in to smaller, logical chunks.
  • Engineering support for the development team, including requirements clarification, system architecture documentation, and work flow diagrams.
  • Engineering support for the Division Staff, to include system road maps, investigating issues, and responding to inquiries, emails, and technical tasks.
  • Support in responding to System Incidents and Alerts from monitoring tools.
  • Testing support, including requirements verification and user acceptance testing.
  • Support for escalated help tickets (tier 2), including triage, coordination, and resolutions.
  • Backup Scrum Master.
  • Support system certification requirements (e.g. Auditable Financial System certification, Security's ICD 503 certification), including documentation and annual contingency/disaster recovery actions.
  • Performance monitoring of Production applications using integrated monitoring tools.
  • Preparation and materials for presentations (e.g. PowerPoint).
  • Configuration Management / Version Control of documentation (e.g. SharePoint).
  • Written input for PMO Briefings (accomplishments, plans, issues, risks).
  • Conduct project briefings & technical demonstrations.
  • Management and coordination for new IT initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Experience: 8+ years
  • Technical skills:
  • System engineering experience in support of web application development
  • Requirement definition and tracking.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Firefox, Chrome, and/or Edge on a Windows platform
  • Experience with MS Office software products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience supporting an Agile/Scrum software development team
  • Scrum Master experience
  • Experience with Visio or software used for system workflow, interface, and architecture diagrams
  • Experience with system monitoring tools
  • Software testing experience
  • Experience with AWS cloud services
  • Location: Chantilly, VA customer site

The likely salary range for this position is $119,870 - $162,178. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
