Description
SAIC is seeking a Senior System Administrator in Middletown, RI.
- Performs high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex Operating Systems, workstations and servers.
- Coordinates, directs and performs complex software installations and upgrades to Operating Systems and layered software packages.
- Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Continually monitors and tunes multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
- Ensures data/media recover-ability by developing and implementing system backups and database archive operations.
- Develops, implements and promotes standard operating procedures for system software configuration management including Operating Systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf software.
- Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established plans, standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Incumbent develops and implements new standards, policies and procedures.
- Incumbent in this job works closely with software developers, cybersecurity, and configuration analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelors and six (6) years or more experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Must have strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of peers.
- Must have a strong understanding of Windows 10 and 11 Operating System including but not limited to: Microsoft Management Console, user group permissions, Explorer permissions, registry changes, firewall changes, OS installs, software installs, and system configuration.
