Ignition SCADA Architect/Engineer
Location: Houston TX
Duration: 9-12 month

JD:

Key Responsibilities

  • System Architecture & Integration
    • Design and deployment of Ignition SCADA systems for well sites, gathering stations, and gas processing facilities.
    • Develop system architectures that support high availability, redundancy, and future scalability for expanding asset bases.
    • Integrate Ignition with PLCs, RTUs (e.g., SCADAPack), and field instrumentation for real-time monitoring and control.
  • Development & Implementation
    • Configure and program Ignition modules (Vision, Perspective, alarming, reporting, historian) for gas well monitoring, tank levels, pressure/flow, and safety shutdowns.
    • Develop user-friendly HMI screens, dashboards, and alarm callout/notification pipelines to support field and control room operations.
    • Implement data acquisition, historization, and integration with enterprise systems
  • Operations Support & Optimization
    • Provide advanced troubleshooting, system tuning, and root cause analysis for SCADA-related issues.
    • Support remote access, field device communications, and secure data transfer from remote well sites to central operations.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements for critical infrastructure.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Training
    • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and IT teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
    • Conduct user training and develop documentation for operators and engineers during system rollouts and upgrades

Requirements

Education

Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent)

Experience

5 10+ years in SCADA/industrial automation, with direct experience in oil & gas environments

Ignition Expertise

Proven experience with Ignition SCADA design, implementation, and support

Technical Skills

- PLC/RTU programming (e.g., SCADAPack, Allen-Bradley)

- Industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT)

- Python scripting, SQL database integration

- Knowledge of historian integration (e.g., OSIsoft PI, Canary Labs)

Certifications

Ignition Core or Gold Certification preferred

Industry Knowledge

Familiarity with onshore gas production processes, safety systems, and regulatory standards

Communication

Strong documentation, training, and stakeholder engagement skills
