Job Details
We re looking for a Tier 3 Network Engineer with deep Cisco wireless expertise to handle day-to-day operations, complex troubleshooting, and project escalations. The role focuses on enterprise wireless across large/global environments, with exposure to SD-WAN and firewalls as a plus. You ll help our network team own hardware/platform operations while the security team remains policy-focused. Expect project work (e.g., Avail and Project Dolly) and an eventual rotating on-call schedule as we build out follow-the-sun coverage.
What you ll do (Responsibilities)
Serve as Tier 3 for network escalations, with a primary focus on Cisco wireless (controllers, APs, authentication, RF).
Own complex troubleshooting across WLAN/LAN/WAN (packet flow, RF interference, performance issues, roaming, authentication).
Implement, optimize, and support Cisco wireless (e.g., 9800/Catalyst controllers, DNA Center/Prime, ISE/802.1X).
Contribute to SD-WAN and firewall operations as needed to reduce reliance on security for device/hardware management.
Deliver project work and steady-state support for initiatives like Avail and Project Dolly (site setup, cutovers, stabilization).
Partner with the security team: they set policy; the network team owns platform/hardware, config deployment, and uptime.
Create and maintain runbooks, diagrams, and operational standards for Tier 1/2 handoffs.
Engage with vendors (Cisco TAC/ePlus) and drive RCAs and preventive actions.
Participate in an eventual rotating on-call schedule to support 24x7 operations.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of professional network engineering experience, with significant hands-on Cisco wireless.
Expert-level troubleshooting of enterprise WLAN (RF fundamentals, site surveys, roaming, QoS, spectrum analysis, DHCP/DNS/RADIUS).
Strong with Cisco wireless controllers/APs and management tooling (e.g., 9800/Catalyst, DNA Center/Prime).
Solid understanding of AAA/ISE, 802.1X, certificate-based auth, and segmentation.
Proven Tier 3/escaltions background supporting large/global enterprises.
Strong documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
SD-WAN (Cisco SD-WAN/Viptela or similar) experience.
Firewall administration (Cisco ASA/FTD/Firepower or equivalent) and policy implementation familiarity.
Scripting/automation for ops (Python, Ansible) and network observability tools.
Certifications: CCNP Enterprise or Wireless; CCIE (nice to have).
