System Engineer

GyanSys is looking for Systems engineer with hand-on experience with datacenter and server equipment racking and stacking experience. This is contracting onsite role based in Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities:

• Perform racking and stacking of server, network, firewall, and storage equipment into allocated racks.
• Administer servers, monitor system performance, optimize reliability, and manage enhancements/upgrades.
• Develop and maintain system documentation for Lab/Data Center configurations.
• Design, develop, and maintain custom templates and reports for performance testing.
• Provide application and server-level support, serving as the Subject Matter Expert for asset management.
• Lead technical efforts for software upgrades, patch updates, and data migration.
• Apply configuration and tuning standards based on vendor recommendations and client requirements.
• Conduct system performance analysis and collaborate with Architects, Engineers, and Network Engineers to ensure efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Windows and Linux (UNIX) server administration, including Active Directory, Domain Name Services, and DHCP.
• Expertise in administering IIS (Internet Information Server) and Apache Web Servers (installation, configuration, monitoring, and upgrades).
• Familiarity with computer diagnostics, hardware/software troubleshooting, and networking.
• Demonstrated experience with infrastructure components (network cables, server installations).
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technology, including VMWare ESX(i), Citrix Administration Skills, and NetScaler.
• Understanding of networking protocols, network interface card installation, switches, routers, and related components.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide effective solutions under tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Physical capability to lift 1U and 2U rack-mounted servers and heavy storage racks (e.g., NetApp) using Rack Jacks.
• Adherence to written and verbal instructions for custom operating system and application installs.
• Knowledge of data center power systems, wire, and cable management.
• Familiarity with IP-KVM is a plus.
• Minimum Bachelor s/Master s degree.
