Software Engineer
The Opportunity:
As a sof tware engineer, you know that good sof tware is difficult to find, and good safety-critical sof tware is very rare. Nuclear weapon sustainment and acquisition requires a level of safety-criticality that is bey ond most sof tware engineers. But you have what it takes to support the Air Force in analyzing the most complex sof tware safety issues across the myriad nuclear weapon systems for which the Air Force is responsible. We are looking for a sof tware engineer like you to understand the design of nuclear weapon systems and use that understanding to ensure that those nuclear weapon systems remain safe and secure in an exciting, dynamic environment.
As a sof tware engineer at Booz Allen, you will apply knowledge of real-time embedded sof tware development and configurable logic development to the maintenance of nuclear safety design policy . You will apply nuclear safety design policy to current and new nuclear weapon systems, including the most advanced weapon systems in development. You will take the understanding of those weapon systems and verify that they meet nuclear safety design policy requirements, and that weapon system documentation meets nuclear safety design standards. You will help lead teams in supporting the Air Force client.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. You Have:
- 5+ years of experience developing real-time embedded sof tware or programmable logic
- Experience in sof tware development for embedded systems using C, C++, or Ada programming languages or programmable logic devices using VHDL or Verilog
- Experience reviewing sof tware products for soundness of technical judgment and consistency with requirements
- Knowledge of fundamental sof tware engineering principles
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
Nice If You Have:
- 8+ years of experience with systems sof tware engineering
- Experience with nuclear weapon systems
- Experience with Air Force weapon systems
- Experience with DO-178 and DO-254 safety standards
- Experience with safety-critical sof tware
- Experience with real-time operating systems
- Knowledge of various embedded architectures
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Top Secret clearance
- Master's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
