Duties:
  • Design and optimize layout for compact, high-density power converter modules.
  • Perform extensive analysis and simulation of losses in layout using Finite Element Method tools and modification of layout to minimize power loss.
  • Design and optimize layout for complex, high layer count demo boards and evaluation boards for mounting and testing compact, high-density DC-DC power converter modules.
  • Coordinate project activities across cross-functional teams, including packaging, applications and design evaluation to successfully tape out new layouts from initial prototype through production release.
  • Collaborate with power design teams to determine technical feasibility of design approach and block specifications at the block level for new product development.
  • Apply knowledge of system level and block level simulation and modelling to design new layout techniques.
  • Participate in product development activities and feasibility studies related to the design and development of state-of-the art power converters.

Partial telecommute benefit (2 days/week work from home)

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or closely related technical discipline (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 2 years of experience in job offered or closely related occupation designing PCB layouts, performing power & signal integrity simulation, collaborating in product development, and optimizing for
performance.

Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section):
  • Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing schematic capture and PCB layout using industry standard EDA tools such as Cadence Allegro and Virtuoso;
  • DE performing power and signal integrity simulation for parasitic estimation and power loss using industry standard tools such as Cadence Sigrity and Ansys SI Wave;
  • DE participating and collaborating in all phases of new product development of power electronics converters and release activities with the product development team (layout, simulation, and optimization);
  • DE leveraging EE fundamentals to ensure maximum efficiency on high layer count eval/test boards; and
  • DE suggesting and making modifications for improving current topology designs to optimize efficiency and thermal performance in compact packages.
