Senior Engineering Manager - Systems Engineering - Simulation & Training Solutions (Onsite)

The Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) Product Systems Engineering department seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of system engineers. The team supports a wide variety of programs and products primarily focused on Visual Systems (Image Generators & Displays) supporting both Commercial and Government end users. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage robust system engineering practices to ensure that program and product development plans are achievable and set up for success, working within a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders and handling complex and shifting business needs. The manager will lead a group of approximately 15-20 systems engineers and provide direct technical support to projects as required. This position will be based onsite at Salt Lake City, UT and reports to the Associate Director of Systems and Project Engineering for STS.

What You Will Do:
  • Leads team responsible for providing technical direction of a variety of Program and Product developments covering requirements through to verification and validation.
  • Interacts with program management and applicable engineering disciplines ensuring that scope is managed, and staffing plans are achievable.
  • Holds team accountable for meeting planned program schedules and budgets.
  • Actively manages staff loading, ensuring the firm and anticipated demand is accurate and appropriate staff levels are allocated.
  • Assesses employee's skills and identifies training and development needed for team.
  • Establishes strong team through recruiting, hiring, on-boarding and assimilation of new hires.
  • This position may require occasional travel.
  • Assists in the tactical implementation of the organization's strategic goals.
  • Ensures all enterprise engineering, quality and business conduct process and policies are implemented and understood.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Ability to lead and direct technical team in a matrix environment possessing strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Experience in systems engineering development process from bids and proposal through verification and validation.
  • Resource planning experience including staff, facilities and equipment needed for successful project execution.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering
  • Knowledge of ALM tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Jama, Crucible.
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevSecOps development processes.
  • Knowledge of simulation real-time software and systems.
  • Development of powerful networks as relationships between Engineering, Business Development and Program Management.
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
