Job Details

Tesla's Aerodynamics team is looking for an electronics engineer to join us in the installation, operation and development of our new, world-class wind tunnel test facility. As part of the Aerodynamic Test Equipment team, you will put your excellent understanding of the principles behind wind tunnel electronics and automotive wind tunnel testing into action by designing, developing, maintaining and operating performant and efficient systems and equipment. Your work on the wind tunnel and other test equipment will directly contribute to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy by helping to revolutionize the way we develop new vehicles to meet the efficiency, comfort, safety and reliability demands of a low cost, electric, autonomous future. Alongside excellent fundamentals, the successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter who is willing to learn and experiment to consistently achieve the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Design and integration of new electrical subsystems into aerodynamic test equipment to enhance functionality and performance
  • Ownership of harness design from concept through to system use, ensuring rigorous application of best practices for safe and functional operation
  • Maintenance and documentation for existing electrical systems, and stockkeeping of critical components to ensure optimal performance and maximal uptime
  • Collaboration with other engineering disciplines within the team and the wider organization on ambitious, cross-functional system projects
  • Production and maintenance of electrical schematics and harness drawings for aerodynamic test equipment

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with EtherCAT and CAN systems
  • Wire harness design and build experience including knowledge of appropriate tools, materials, and best practices. Experience of IS Rayfast connectors and TE Raychem system 25 will be beneficial
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workloads, and meet tight delivery timelines
  • Detail-oriented personality with effective documentation and reporting
  • Excellent communicator, resourceful, and mindful of time management
  • Proficient in the use of CAD packages such as Catia, 3DX and AutoCAD for the design of wiring harnesses in both 3D and formboard layouts preferred
  • Experience with wind tunnel testing preferred

      $76,000 - $193,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
