About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer - Test Automation Level 4 with deep expertise in test automation using Playwright, as well as strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the quality and reliability of the Firefly Web Client designing and maintaining robust test automation frameworks, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating cross-functionally with product, development, and DevOps teams.

Firefly Boards is an AI-powered mood-boarding and ideation app that provides a non-linear infinite canvas. It enables a new generation of creatives to embrace generative AI and those who find the linear workflows of legacy software restrictive. Images and videos can be imported or generated using AI models and edited, remixed, iterated on, and organized flexibly, making it easier for artists to visualize and develop ideas on their own or in collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and scale automated test suites using Playwright.
• Build and extend testing infrastructure and utilities in TypeScript.
• Drive best practices in test automation, test coverage, and CI/CD integration.
• Investigate test failures, report defects and application bugs, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
• Lead by example in code quality, test reliability, and operational excellence.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers on automation strategy, tooling, and test design.
• Build and enhance internal developer tools (Dev Tools) to support testing and debugging workflows.
• Add and maintain logging, monitoring hooks, and custom test instrumentation as needed.
• Write performance tests to ensure optimal speed, responsiveness, and scalability, includes simulating user load, measuring page load times, monitoring CPU/GPU usage.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or test automation.
• Skilled in at least one mainstream frontend framework, such as React, Vue, or Lit.
• Proven expertise with Playwright for end-to-end testing of modern web applications.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with CI/CD tools.
• Solid understanding of web technologies, browser behavior, and DOM manipulation.
• Ability to debug and analyze failures in test and production environments.
• Experience with performance testing tools, such as Lighthouse, Playwright Tracing and Metrics, Google Chrome DevTools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with argo, Jenkins
• Familiarity with test reporting and analytics tools.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Previous experience working on enterprise-level applications.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $133,900 -- $242,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
