Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid 4 Days Onsite)
Employment Type: 12-Month W2 Contract
Our telecommunications client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in Linux and Windows administration, virtualization, and storage systems. The ideal candidate will be heavily Linux-focused, but should also be comfortable supporting Windows operating systems. You will be part of a team that ensures infrastructure reliability, scalability, and security across virtualized environments.
This role plays a critical part in supporting enterprise operations including patching, software deployments, storage provisioning, and endpoint security using Tanium. While prior experience with Tanium is strongly preferred, candidates must be open and eager to learn it.

Linux and Windows Systems Administration (Heavier focus on Linux)

Strong experience with VMware and virtualized operating environments

Hands-on experience with Enterprise Storage Solutions (SAN/NAS) PowerMax and PowerScale preferred

Experience with Tanium

Used for patching, inventory management, and threat detection on Linux and Windows servers

Will be trained if not already experienced, but must be open to learning

Backup Solutions experience such as NetBackup or Rubrik

Administer and support Linux and Windows server environments

Monitor, patch, and maintain systems using Tanium, ensuring timely vulnerability resolution

Provision, allocate, and manage storage using Dell PowerMax and PowerScale

Collaborate with vendors for hardware/software support, patching schedules, and issue resolution
-
Oversee virtualization infrastructure in VMware, ensuring system uptime and performance
-
Ensure systems do not exceed capacity thresholds; conduct preventive capacity planning
-
Participate in enterprise IT security efforts including software updates, endpoint monitoring, and inventory tracking

Support occasional troubleshooting and problem-solving across OS, virtual, and storage layers

5+ years of experience in Linux/Unix and Windows systems administration

Strong hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies

Solid background in managing enterprise SAN/NAS storage platforms

Willingness to learn and work with Tanium for endpoint visibility and control

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, on-site team
