We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer to join our dynamic Compute and Storage team in charge of storage technologies. As a Lead Storage Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Storage Platform. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams across the organization to support the development, deployment, and operations of our applications, services, and infrastructure. As a Lead Systems Engineer (Storage), you are responsible for technical leadership within the Compute & Storage team and are a role model for colleagues who can rely on your guidance. You are self-motivated, proactive and thrive in taking ownership of your work. You possess the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision. Your proactive nature enables you to see opportunities for improvement, propose innovative solutions, and take the initiative to implement them. About the team

The Compute & Storage squad is part of the Platform Tribe. Our squad delivers and operates VMware and storage infrastructure for Swift critical applications. The Platform Tribe aims to deliver highly secure, reliable, cost-effective and easy-to-use standardized/generalized private cloud infrastructure and platform services allowing our business teams to focus on value delivery to Swift customers. As part of our commitment to Agile principles, we have embraced the Scrum framework to enhance productivity transparency, and adaptability in our activities. We value iterative and incremental development, which allows us to deliver value to our partners while improving our processes. Our internal processes are highly automated and focus on security, scalability, and operability.

What to expect?

In this role you will:
  • Work with the Product Owner and Squad members to design, build and operate a scalable, secure, and highly available Storage Platform using company and industry standard processes
  • Setup, testing and provisioning of block storage infrastructure (HPE XP storage arrays, Brocade SAN directors)
  • Configuration and testing of object storage (Cloudian HyperStore clusters)
  • Performance and functional integration testing with follow-up defect resolution
  • Migrating data from existing / new storage systems
  • Research / develop and maintain automation for the deployment, configuration and management
  • Analyze system performance and make recommendations for improvements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployment, security and performance
  • Ensure the Storage Infrastructure adheres to security and compliance standards
  • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure high availability and performance
  • Document platform architecture, processes, and procedures
  • Implement and maintain relevant mechanisms related to access controls, security policies and encryption
  • Participate in meetings and Agile / Scrum ceremonies
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and other partners to provide technical expertise and support


What will make you successful?

We are seeking professionals with:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in a technical operational support area
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing Block storage infrastructure
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing Object storage infrastructure with load balancers
  • Hands-on experience with HPE XP array tools (RWC, PA, Raidcom)
  • Hands-on experience with SAN fabric tools (SANnav, WebTools)
  • Infrastructure performance tuning
  • Knowledge of storage solutions like Virtual Volumes (vVOLS), Storage Distributed Resource Scheduler (SDRS) and Virtual SAN (vSAN)
  • Troubleshooting firewalls, DNS, load balancers
  • Good working knowledge of Certificate Management
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, great teammate and customer focused
  • Autonomous and driven.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good understanding of Software Configuration and Build Management
  • Knowledge of DevOps and Software Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes and tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Packer)
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards, benchmarks, and recommendations
  • SNIA Certified Storage Networking Expert (SCSN-E)
  • Brocade Certified Fabric Professional (BCFP)
  • Brocade Certified SAN Designer (BCSD)
  • Brocade Certified SAN Manager (BCSM)
  • Cloudian Certified Administrator (CCA)


The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is $113,330 to $210,470 MAXIMUM USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employees contingent on personal and company performance.
