Mainframe Application Support Engineer Mobius Specialist

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Mainframe Application Support Engineer to support and enhance enterprise document management systems for a leading client in North America. This role involves a mix of operational support, incident resolution, documentation, and participation in enhancement and large-scale project initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Mobius, COBOL, JCL, and mainframe utilities, with working knowledge of Mobius and related tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation; identify gaps and ensure materials are organized and up to date.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and recurring problems.
  • Contribute to system enhancements and support large-scale project implementations.
  • Provide general support for service requests, infrastructure changes, and break-fix activities.
  • Enforce existing standards and recommend improvements to support efficient onboarding and maintain system integrity.

Mandatory Skillsets:

Mainframe Development & Operations:

  • Mobius development/administration
  • JCL (Job Control Language)
  • COBOL programming
  • MVS utilities (e.g., SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEBCOPY)
  • TSO/ISPF
  • IOF or similar tools (e.g., SDSF)
  • DB2/SQL with tools like SPUFI or QMF

Mobius (Enterprise Archiving and Retrieval):

  • Experience with Mobius development or administration
  • Understanding of Mobius object types
  • Familiarity with Mobius utilities (e.g., ARCHMIGR, TOPMAINT, DBMAINT, VDRCOMMD)

System Tools & Utilities:

  • DB2/VSAM utilities (e.g., ADTOOLS, File-AID)
  • Mainframe job scheduling tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M)

Nice-to-Have Skillsets:

  • REXX scripting
  • SAS programming

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mainframe application support or development
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment

Work Environment:

  • This role is Remote in USA.
