ServiceNow Developer

Description:

  • Within Enterprise Technology, the Service Mgmt & Delivery team is responsible for Hardware Asset & Service Configuration Mgmt,
  • Change Enablement, and Problem Mgmt. Our goals are to ensure robust processes and system interfaces are in place to enable
  • accurate identification and collection of hardware asset and configuration data, maintain accuracy through established governance
  • processes and mitigate risk via a mature change management process.
  • Responsibilities of Role:
  • The Data Integration Engineer is responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of various data integrations
  • connecting to the CMDB (Configuration Mgmt Database). Primary focus will be to optimize the existing ServiceNow Discovery product
  • and associated MID Server infrastructure. This role ensures the accurate population of the CMDB and collaborates closely with
  • technical and operational teams to enhance service visibility and data integrity. The Data Integration Engineer will also contribute to
  • platform improvement initiatives, automation strategies, and ongoing CMDB governance.
  • Configure, implement, and maintain ServiceNow Discovery and MID Servers across global environments.
  • Design and maintain custom Discovery probes, sensors, and patterns to support asset visibility and service mapping initiatives.
  • Monitor discovery health, troubleshoot discovery failures, remediate credential issues, and optimize discovery schedules.
  • Ensure CMDB accuracy by validating discovery results, remediating discrepancies, and supporting data quality initiatives.
  • Deploy additional automation solutions to compliment Discovery and CMDB data management. (APIs, Splunk, Tanium, etc...)
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to align data integrations with operational needs.
  • Proficiency in use of Unix and Windows troubleshooting tools (shell, PowerShell, MobaXterm, etc.)
  • Support ServiceNow platform upgrades, Discovery-related patches, and data integration lifecycle management.
  • Partner with governance and compliance teams to ensure adherence to security and data management standards.

Basic Qualification:
  • 3+ years of experience with ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB configuration.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (SNMP, WMI, SSH, HTTP/S) and IT infrastructure components (servers, databases,
  • network devices, cloud services).
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow development tools, including scripting (JavaScript), Flow Designer, Orchestration, and IntegrationHub.
  • Solid understanding of CMDB design, relationship mapping, normalization, reconciliation, and data integrity best practices.
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting ServiceNow MID Servers in diverse environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on incident diagnosis and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and knowledge transfer.
Education:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent
  • work experience.
Certifications
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) (Required or must be obtained within 6 months)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Discovery (Preferred)
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification (Preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Service Mapping or extending Discovery into non-standard infrastructures.
  • Integration of third-party asset discovery tools (e.g., SCCM, Tanium, AWS Config) with ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native discovery practices (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies, or related DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of ServiceNow Discovery security models and credential management.
