Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a Head of Engineering! This is a Full-Time, Direct Hire position with an established start-up software solution company committed to simplifying safety through smart, scalable technology.
This hands-on leadership opportunity is ideal for a seasoned technical expert with a strategic entrepreneurial mindset, who can guide both engineering execution and product strategy, while also actively contributing to development efforts. As Head of Engineering, you will oversee a small globally-distributed development team. Our client s platform includes both a modern secure system and legacy applications.
What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
- Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams within fast-paced SaaS environments, especially in fully remote and globally distributed settings.
- Must have experience leading product development in a company where the product is the sole/major source of revenue for the company.
- Strong hands-on technical expertise across scalable cloud platforms and both web and mobile application development.
- Demonstrated ability to define, own, and execute product strategies in partnership with cross-functional business teams.
- Product-minded self-starter, comfortable identifying customer pain points and translating them into engineering solutions without a formal product function.
- Deep understanding of secure development practices, compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2), and data protection regulations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially across time zones and functional teams.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality eager to lead through action, solve complex challenges, and contribute code when needed.
- Familiarity with safety, risk management, or compliance-related software platforms is a plus.
What You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position)
- Lead and mentor a globally distributed engineering team with a focus on accountability, ownership, and execution.
- Drive both the technical and product vision to align with business goals.
- Guide secure, scalable software development practices and maintain compliance with industry standards.
- Serve as the primary driver of product strategy working closely with leadership, sales, and customer success to prioritize impactful solutions.
- Translate customer needs and business objectives into engineering strategies and product roadmaps.
- Review architecture and code, solve complex technical problems, and support high-quality delivery across the platform.
- Manage technical debt while maintaining speed, stability, and long-term platform health.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment between engineering, leadership, and customer-facing teams.
- Promote transparency, trust, and a shared sense of purpose within a distributed team.

Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without need of current or future visa sponsorship. The expected salary range for this position is $140,000k - $150,000k per year plus $25,000 bonus, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
