We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team on a contingent basis. In this role, you will contribute to the development of scalable, high-performance applications and services. You'll work on moderately complex engineering challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive improvements in our software development processes.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our team on a contingent basis. In this role, you will contribute to the development of scalable, high-performance applications and services. You'll work on moderately complex engineering challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive improvements in our software development processes.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable Java-based applications.
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs and microservices in an event-driven architecture.
- Analyze and resolve technical challenges, applying sound judgment and best practices.
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and technical teams.
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering or equivalent practical experience (e.g., military service, education, or consulting).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Java and object-oriented programming (OOP)
- RESTful API development
- SQL and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
- Event-driven and microservices architectures
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed systems.
- Experience working in Agile environments and using CI/CD tools.
- 3+ years of experience building scalable, production-grade applications.
- Experience with:
- Apache Kafka
- APIGEE Gateway
- Domain-driven design (DDD)
- Modern web and mobile application development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Industry-recognized technical certifications are a plus.
