Job Details

As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team's strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your team's actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.

This role requires a blend of skills and experiences consisting of product management acumen; building and leading high performance teams in digital engineering and/or digital experience design; and strong leadership in creating and executing large scale digital initiatives with strong passion and focus to deliver an omnichannel experience that is uniquely Costco.

In this role you will be responsible for the development of our suite of mobile applications on both iOS and Android. You will lead engineering teams, user experience designers, and key stakeholders to build mobile applications that drive meaningful impact for our members and business.The ideal candidate for this role will have a demonstrated experience in developing and executing a comprehensive digital strategy by closely working with multiple product managers, business lines and IT teams.

As the primary conduit between your employees and upper leadership, your role in communicating and modeling the values and guiding principles of our company culture is of vital importance. Job Duties/Essential Functions

COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgment, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

Create clear and concise communications/recommendations for senior leadership review related to strategic business plans and initiatives

Works directly with the Senior Executive team to design, develop, and assist in the implementation of digital strategies, ensuring alignment to corporate vision/goals.

This is a full-time management/leadership position (45 hours per week).

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications
Required:

5 years as a Director or Manager with demonstrated experience in building and deploying valuable features to our members and business.

Deep understanding of Kotlyn and Swift development frameworks is required for this role to deliver a robust mobile platform.

Demonstrated experience in forging and fostering close partnerships with business, product management, IT teams to ensure fast and flawless delivery of features that will be used by millions.

Demonstrated experience in building and leading fast performing engineering teams, reshaping the design process of digital and warehouse member experience, and infusing critical thinking in shaping member journeys.

Practitioner of Agile software development - Prior experience managing a team operating under Scrum or similar agile methodology is desirable.

Experience writing software in Java or any other object oriented programming languages.

Experience building large-scale web services utilizing micro-services specifically in the e-commerce domain.

Experience writing code and demonstrate deep knowledge of asynchronous APIs and services using an event backbone.

Experience leading a large group of development, QA, and engineers in a DevOps culture.

Familiarity with BFF and other architecture patterns.

Keen understanding of best practices for mobile development.

Advocate for leveraging and evolving a Continuous Delivery/Integration pipeline and QA Automation to drive agility.

Knowledge of (and a passion for) current trends and best practices in frontend architecture, including performance, security, and usability.

Strong understanding of architecture patterns and operational characteristics of highly available and scalable applications.

HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).
Recommended:

Voracious learner, especially in the areas of digital transformation ,Omnichannel, digital strategies, mobile technology and development methodology, UX design, digital analytics.

Track record of successfully building world class Mobile products.

Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
