Senior Java Developer - Austin, TX (25% Remote)

iSphere is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer for a long-term opportunity with one of our top-tier public sector clients in Austin. This position supports critical enhancements to a statewide reporting system and requires a developer who thrives in collaborative, fast-moving environments with complex data structures and evolving business logic.
What You ll Be Doing:

Enhance and maintain an enterprise Java application (PCS SCOR EI) with a focus on backend logic, front-end UI updates, and reporting integrations

Analyze system requirements, study workflows, and collaborate with users to define new features and resolve system issues

Design and implement scalable Java-based solutions using Spring, RESTful services, and SQL

Extend system data models and reporting functionality (Crystal Reports and Power BI)

Follow agile practices for development, testing, code reviews, documentation, and on-call support as needed

Maintain compliance with code coverage, security, and quality standards
Must-Have Skills:
-
8+ years of Java development using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

8+ years of experience developing on J2EE platforms

8+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries for relational databases

8+ years of experience with RESTful web services using the Spring framework

Deep knowledge of Spring AOP, including transaction management and security

Solid experience with JUnit and test-driven development
Nice to Have:

4+ years of experience with Angular or similar front-end frameworks
-
Familiarity with Crystal Reports and Power BI for enterprise reporting
-
Previous experience working in public sector environments
