Job Description:

The Product Owner - Underwriting is responsible for developing and executing the vision and strategy for Underwriting optimization focused on improving operational efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing customer satisfaction through streamlined workflows and accurate data management.

They collaborate closely with stakeholders to define and prioritize epics and features, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals. The Product Owner understands and clearly defines customer problems, prioritizes work, and communicates with stakeholders to ensure the team provides the highest value for the customer. They work with other teams, product owners, technologists, and architects to develop a deep understanding of the technologies and systems they support.

1. Define and communicate a clear product vision for underwriting optimization, aligning strategic priorities with business, underwriting, and technology stakeholders.
2. Lead the roadmap and strategy for the Underwriting, focusing on improving workflow efficiency, decision accuracy, and user experience.
3. Own multiple underwriting optimization capabilities and define measurable outcomes using OKRs tied to operational performance and risk outcomes.
4. Collaborate with agile teams to translate underwriting needs into well-defined features and ensure alignment with overall underwriting modernization goals.
5. Prioritize functionality within the Workbench that enhances automation, rule configuration, triage, and decision support.
6. Scope and define deliverables that align with business investment appetite and drive streamlined underwriting workflows.
7. Foster a collaborative environment to drive consensus and empower teams in delivering impactful underwriting solutions.

Desired Skill, Experience, Qualifications, Certifications etc.:

Must Have:

1. 8-12 years of experience as Product Owner in Specialty Lines
2. Excellent knowledge of underwriting processes in P&C - Specialty insurance
3. Experience managing Product backlog, User stories acceptance and defect triage
4. Strong documentation and communication skills.
5. Ability to explain complex ideas to different audiences and influence stakeholders.
6. Strong leadership, decision-making and stakeholder management skills.
7. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive progress.
8. Innovative mindset to drive change in uncertain situations.
9. Understanding of Low Code No Code Platforms is a major plus.
